The scent of Amsterdam captured in a bottle! Perfume for People and Places. For centuries the elm has been the tree of Amsterdam, as can be seen in the beautiful painting 'Keizersgracht at Molenpad' ca 1775 by Hendrik Keun (Collection of the Amsterdam Museum). This painting is depicted on the packaging of Eau d'Amsterdam.
Now the scent of these characteristic trees on the canals has been made perceptible for the first time. Artist duo Tijdmakers – consisting of Saskia Hoogendoorn and Lieuwe Martijn Wijnands – launched Eau d'Amsterdam, Scent of the Elm Trees at the end of 2014 at Meesterlijk. This unique city perfume with the scent of the leaves and wood of the elms along the canals was named by VOGUE as 1 of the best 7 fragrances with a destination and by I Amsterdam as Best of Amsterdam Brands. The elm perfume was developed in collaboration with fragrance expert and perfume designer Tanja Deurloo from Annindriya and International Flavors & Fragrances.
